Preballet

In this class, 3 1/2 to 5 year old boys and girls continue to explore primary level ballet curriculum and terminology. Students explore primary level ballet which includes first and second positions of the arms and feet, big jumps and creative dances created by students. Dance movement is practiced in groups, pantomime is demonstrated, and ballet steps are done on the diagonal across the room. The French terminology is used and explained so students understand the correct term for each movement. Creative dance with crowns, tutus and fairy wands remain an essential part of the class. Group skills such as following in lines and taking turns in an orderly fashion are a few of the class goals. Preballet can prove to assist a successful transition into preschool or similar environment. (45 minute class)
